Everything you'll need to know about what constitutes ethical SEO is listed below. It may take you a day or two to digest it all but the exercise will be well worth it in the long run.
Ethical SEO Services in the Internet marketing industry are commonly referred to as White Hat Search Engine Optimisation. That's what you want deployed on your web pages. SEO rules are presently dictated by the search engines themselves. Their established guidelines are regularly being updated to reflect the ever-evolving streams of search engine manipulation strategies. Manipulating the SEs (search engines) has been around a long time and as fast as the technology to detect and devalue cheating webpages gets developed, newer, more clever unethical tactics have already been deployed. For the search engines, it's a constant struggle to deliver high quality results to Internet searchers.
Ethical SEO Guidelines Towards Developing Expert Search Engine Optimization Techniques
In order to better understand the skills required to be an ethical SEO expert you should start by reading
Wikipedia's Definition of Search Engine Optimization. It covers pretty much all of it including the various shades of SEO hats.
Then move into
Google Webmaster Guidelines. These are quite extensive now and offer invaluable SEO tips on how to really please the search engine. Google's starting to get back on the right track. They came out with a
Search Engine Optimisation Starter Guide (in PDF format) last year that still is fairly relevant, basic but that's the nature of ethical SEO.
Then there's the
Microsoft Webmaster Guideline. This is a little weaker than Google's elaborate explanations but is an essential read for anyone in Canada looking to better understand what constitutes and ethical SEO strategy. Bing (the old Live, which is the old MSN) is turning out to be a good search engine; although it's challenging to optimize for as they are continuously overhauling their ranking systems. Bing rankings change faster than... well, I'll leave it at that.
Finally, a good SEO ethics version popped out of
Yahoo! Search Content Quality Guidelines. This has recently been updated and is quite specific about what they are considering as being search engine spam; a good web page.
